CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's basketball team returns home Saturday to kickoff a brief two-game homestand against Wright State. Tip-off between the Musketeers and Raiders is set for 2 p.m. at Cintas Center. The game will be streaming live for FREE via goxavier.com's All-Access player.

About the Musketeers
Xavier (4-4) dropped a 63-48 decision at Middle Tennessee on Dec. 6, its most recent contest. The Musketeers rank in the top six teams in the Atlantic 10 in several categories including: third in defensive rebounds, fourth in scoring offense (65.4) and field goal percentage (.411) and sixth in free throw percentage (.722), 3-point field goal percentage (.325) and rebounding defense (36.2).

XU is led by junior guard Shatyra Hawkes with 11.5 ppg. (19th A-10), 4.3 apg. (7th A-10), .792 free throw percentage (9th A-10) and a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio (5th A-10). Senior Amber Gray is also averaging double-figures scoring with 10.9 ppg. while junior Ashley Wanninger leads the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.415 - 6th A-10) and with 2.1 3-point baskets per game (6th A-10). Senior Jessica Pachko averages a team-high 6.7 boards per contest (19th A-10) while junior Ty O'Neill tallies 1.9 steals per game (13th A-10) for the Musketeers.


 

 

Scouting Wright State
Wright State (4-4) picked up the 78-61 win over visiting Urbana Wednesday night at WSU's Nutter Center. Kim Demmings led the Raiders with a game-high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds and nine assists. Tayler Stanton also posted a double-double for WSU with 13 points and 14 rebounds. WSU leads the Horizon League in rebounding offense (44.5) and offensive (15.4) and defensive (29.1) rebounds while ranking third in rebounding margin (+2.4) and blocked shots (2.8).

The Raiders are led by Demmings, the only player to average double-figures scoring, with 20.1 ppg. (3rd HL) while Stanton is the team's leading rebounder with 8.5 boards per contest (6th HL). Demmings is also WSU's assist leader, dishing out 3.4 apg. (9th HL), and steals leader (1.3 spg.).

The Series
Xavier and Wright State have previously met 19 times with the Musketeers holding the 12-7 advantage in the series between the two programs. The Raiders and Musketeers first squared off during the 1976-7 season on Feb. 12 in Cincinnati - XU claimed the 44-36 win. In the two squads' last meeting, Nov. 23, 1999, Xavier picked up the 73-56 victory at Wright State. Xavier has won nine straight in the series.

Last Time Out
The Musketeers suffered a 63-48 setback at the hands of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro on Dec. 6. For the first 30 minutes of the game, Xavier was neck-and-neck with Middle Tennessee but a seven-minute Musketeer scoring drought allowed the Blue Raiders to rattle off 14 unanswered points to take over the game. Senior Jessica Pachko scored a team-high 10 points for XU and three Musketeers tallied five rebounds apiece on the night. Senior Amber Gray and sophomore Lakeisha Crouch chipped in nine points apiece as well.
