Fairborn, Ohio CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's basketball team returns home Saturday to kickoff a brief two-game homestand against Wright State. Tip-off between the Musketeers and Raiders is set for 2 p.m. at Cintas Center. The game will be streaming live for FREE via goxavier.com's All-Access player.
About the Musketeers XU is led by junior guard Shatyra Hawkes with 11.5 ppg. (19th A-10), 4.3 apg. (7th A-10), .792 free throw percentage (9th A-10) and a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio (5th A-10). Senior Amber Gray is also averaging double-figures scoring with 10.9 ppg. while junior Ashley Wanninger leads the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.415 - 6th A-10) and with 2.1 3-point baskets per game (6th A-10). Senior Jessica Pachko averages a team-high 6.7 boards per contest (19th A-10) while junior Ty O'Neill tallies 1.9 steals per game (13th A-10) for the Musketeers.
Scouting Wright State Wright State (4-4) picked up the 78-61 win over visiting Urbana Wednesday night at WSU's Nutter Center. Kim Demmings led the Raiders with a game-high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds and nine assists. Tayler Stanton also posted a double-double for WSU with 13 points and 14 rebounds. WSU leads the Horizon League in rebounding offense (44.5) and offensive (15.4) and defensive (29.1) rebounds while ranking third in rebounding margin (+2.4) and blocked shots (2.8). The Raiders are led by Demmings, the only player to average double-figures scoring, with 20.1 ppg. (3rd HL) while Stanton is the team's leading rebounder with 8.5 boards per contest (6th HL). Demmings is also WSU's assist leader, dishing out 3.4 apg. (9th HL), and steals leader (1.3 spg.).
