Harris Named A-10 Player of the Week After Averaging Double-Double

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the second consecutive week Xavier senior forward Amber Harris has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Dec. 6.
Harris earns her second consecutive Player of the Week nod and the fourth of her career after averaging a double-double of 21.3 points and 10.3 rebounds as Xavier picked up a trio of wins and jumped out to its best start in program history at 8-0. Harris scored a game-high 16 points and swatted two blocks in only 16 minutes of action as the Musketeers dismissed visiting Mississippi Valley State, 85-40, on Nov. 30. In XU's win over Southern California, Harris scored the go-ahead jumper with 38 seconds left in the game as Xavier picked up the 69-66 win over the Trojans on Dec. 2. Against USC, the senior forward scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals and a block. Harris closed out the week with a team-high 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, as Xavier defeated cross-town rival Cincinnati, 69-61, on Dec. 5 and secured the Kendle Cup. Against the Bearcats, Harris also added three blocks, two assists and one steal.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native currently leads the fourth-ranked Musketeers with her 21.0 points per game average, while ranking second on the squad with 10.0 rebounds each time out.
The Musketeers return to action in Thursday with a trip to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Middle Tennessee. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at MTSU's Murphy Center.
