CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's basketball team is set to hit the road this afternoon, heading to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to square off against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET at MT's Murphy Center. The game will be streamed live via WatchESPN.com.

Xavier Falls to Middle Tennessee 65-49
Xavier concluded its five-game home stand Friday with a 65-49 defeat to Middle Tennessee State at Cintas Center. Sophomore guard Lynette Holmes had a team-high 15 points from 5-of-8 shooting.

About the Musketeers
Xavier (4-3) scratched out a 69-67 double-overtime win at Cincinnati Sunday afternoon in the team's first road game of the season. The Musketeers rank in the top five teams in the Atlantic 10 in several categories including: third in scoring offense (67.9), defensive rebounds (28.4) and defensive rebound percentage (.724) and fifth in free throw percentage (.720), 3-point field goal percentage (.324) and assists (14.0).

XU is led by junior guard Shatyra Hawkes with 12.4 ppg. (15th A-10), 4.4 apg. (9th A-10), .818 free throw percentage (9th A-10) and a 1.6 assist/turnover ratio (5th A-10). Senior Amber Gray is also averaging double-figures scoring with 11.1 ppg. while junior Ashley Wanninger leads the team in 3-point field goal percentage (.421 - 7th A-10) and with 2.3 3-point baskets per game (5th A-10). Senior Jessica Pachko averages a team-high 7.2 boards per contest (17th A-10) while junior Ty O'Neill tallies 1.9 steals per game (t-12th A-10) for the Musketeers.

Scouting Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee (5-3) is coming off a 70-56 mid-day win over Austin Peay on Tuesday heading into Thursday game. The Blue Raiders had three players in double-figures scoring, including Kortni Jones with a game-high 17 points. MT leads the Sun Belt Conference with 7.1 3-point baskets made per game and rank second in the league in scoring margin (+10.4), assists (14.5) and turnover margin (+5.38).

The Blue Raiders are led by Ebony Rowe who averages a double-double with 19.4 ppg. (3rd SBC) and 10.5 rpg. (2nd SBC). Jones averages 15.8 ppg., good for fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference, to go with 5.0 apg. (1st SBC) while Icelyn Elie adds 14.9 ppg., shooting at a 50.5 percent clip (7th SBC).

The Series
Xavier and Middle Tennessee have previously met eight times with the series tied at four games apiece. The Blue Raiders claimed the 65-49 win last season at Cintas Center but the Musketeers had won the two previous games. The series dates back to the 1997-98 season when XU took the first contest, 74-66.

Last Time Out
In come-from-behind fashion the Musketeers claimed the Kendle Cup in the 35th edition of the Crosstown Classic by defeating intracity rival Cincinnati, 69-67, in double overtime. Senior Jessica Pachko led Xavier with 15 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore Lakeisha Crouch also scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied three blocks in the game. Also in double-figures scoring, junior Shatyra Hawkes chipped in 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists. A clutch player down the stretch, junior Ty O'Neill added eight points and recorded a career-high four steals for the Musketeers.
