Five Double-Figures Scorers Lift Women's Basketball Over Michigan, 85-76
After leading by as many as 14, the No. 5/6 Xavier women's basketball team came away with an 85-76 win at Michigan Monday night at UM's Crisler Arena. Junior Tyeasha Moss recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 assists as one of five Musketeers with double-figures scoring.

About the Musketeers
Xavier (1-0) picked up a season-opening win over Bucknell Saturday, 71-62, and also went 1-0 in exhibition action with its 67-51 win over Indianapolis on Nov. 3. XU was 8-20 last season and made its 17th consecutive appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Musketeers are under the direction of second-year head coach Amy Waugh, a 2003 Xavier graduate and four-year letter winner.

In XU's season opener against Bucknell the Musketeers were without their top returning scorer and rebounder senior forward Jessica Pachko due to a family illness. Xavier adjusted to the missing puzzle piece and shared the rock as four Musketeers recorded double-digit scoring nights including sophomore Lakeisha Crouch with the game's only double-double (11p, 12r).

Scouting Michigan
Michigan (1-0) also opened the season with a win on Friday, a 70-62 victory over Detroit at U-M's Crisler Center. The Wolverines are currently receiving votes in the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches Top 25 polls and are led by first-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico, a 16-year college head coaching veteran. U-M dominated Slippery Rock, 106-35, in its only exhibition contest of the preseason.

U-M seniors Jenny Ryan and Kate Thompson spearheaded the Wolverine offensive attack against Detroit Friday with 18 points each as four Wolverines scored in double figures. Senior Rachel Sheffer scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and sophomore Brenae Harris netted 11 points. U-M's starting five accounted for 68 of the team's 70 points.

The Series
Xavier and Michigan have previously met five with the Wolverines holding the 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. The two squads last met in Ann Arbor during the 2010-11 season (Nov. 15) as the Musketeers claimed the 85-76 win at U-M's Crisler Center.
