CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's and women's basketball teams celebrated the beginning of the 2012-13 season with Musketeer Madness and Fan Fest on Saturday night. Over 4,000 fans were in attendance to enjoy the festivities and cheer on the Musketeers.

Fans kicked off the event on the Plaza in front of Cintas Center, where cornhole, inflatable play sets and other games were set-up. The Musketeers were also available for an autograph signing prior to the start of Musketeer Madness. The Madness commenced with player introductions and was followed with several contests involving fans, students and members of the basketball teams. Intrasquad scrimmages by the two teams concluded the event.

Ashley Wanninger drained a pair of treys to lead the women's team past the practice squad, 26-14. Tykiesha O'Neill and Briana Glover both had five points on the strength of a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Lakeisha Crouch and Amber Gray chipped in four points apiece.

Freshman Semaj Christon led all-scorers in the men's scrimmage with 15 points for the white team. Jeff Robinson scored nine to pace the Blue team. Matt Stainbrook added seven points and Travis Taylor and Justin Martin each tallied six points in the scrimmage.

Both teams will be in action on Nov. 3, when they host scrimmages against Indianapolis and Kentucky State. The women's basketball team will host Indianapolis at 1 p.m. in its final tune-up and Kentucky State will square off against the men's team at 7 p.m.
