CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball incoming freshman Kayla Davis has been named to the Canadian Junior Women's National Team (JWNT) and will compete in the FIBA U19 World Championships.

Davis earned a spot on the team after being invited to the tryout and recently wrapped up a nine-day training camp with the JWNT. A 5-foot-7 guard, Davis and the JWNT will first compete in a pair of exhibition games in France and Spain prior to participating in the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships hosted by Lithuania from July 18-28.

"We are very excited for Kayla as she prepares for an incredible opportunity to represent her country and play against some of the best players in the world," said Xavier head coach Amy Waugh. "We look forward to closely following her success in July and can't wait to have her on campus in August."

The 5-foot-7 guard from Brampton, Ontario will join Xavier in August following her stint with the JWNT. Davis was ranked 38th at her position and a three-star recruit by ESPN Hoopgurlz.
