Women's Basketball Newcomer Boothe Named 'Freshman of Impact'

CINCINNATI--- Xavier?s incoming freshmen are not on campus yet, but women?s basketball recruit Tara Boothe is already getting some national attention. The internet site womenscollegehoops.com has named Boothe, a graduate of Northern Kentucky?s Highlands High School, an Honorable Mention ?Freshman of Impact? for the coming season.

Boothe, a 6-foot-1 forward, was a 2001 Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American. She was named to the All-State First Team by The Louisville Courier Journal and was an All-State Honorable Mention for the Associated Press. A 2,000 point scorer for her career, Boothe averaged 25.2 points and 12.8 rebounds as a senior.

Boothe is one of five newcomers for first-year head coach Kevin McGuff in the 2002-03 season.

In naming her one of it’s 18 honorable mentions, womenscollegehoops.com said, “Boothe will help new coach McGuff develop an inside/outside game that could bring the Musketeers all the way back to the NCAAs.”
