CINCINNATI - Xavier University women's basketball administrative assistant Niele Ivey has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame.

Ivey had served as administrative assistant on head coach Kevin McGuff's staff for the past two seasons.  Ivey helped lead XU to postseason play in each of the last two seasons, including the Atlantic 10 Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2007.  XU sported an impressive 47-17 (.734) record during Ivey's tenure.

"I am incredibly excited for Niele to have the opportunity to join the staff at Notre Dame," said McGuff.  "She is a terrific person who will make an immediate positive impact for the Irish.  She will be greatly missed and the players at Notre Dame will have the benefit of her passion and energy for helping young women develop."

Ivey, who played in the WNBA from 2001-05, was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection for the Irish when McGuff was an assistant coach for ND.  She helped lead the Irish to four NCAA Tournament appearances including the 2001 National Championship.
