NEW YORK - The 2014 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Conference Championship seeds are set and the hosting, top-seeded Blue Demons will open play on Sunday, March 9 at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of the Xavier/Georgetown first round game.

The first round games will take place on Saturday, March 8 at McGrath-Phillips Arena before moving to the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. for the quarterfinal through championship rounds.

Following Villanova's win over Marquette, the seeds were set for the 2014 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats claimed the No. 4 seed with their win, nudging the Golden Eagles down to No. 5. The top-seeded Blue Demons of DePaul still have a game set for later this evening.

Marquette will face Villanova for the second time in less than a week in Sunday's Quarterfinals, with the Wildcats earning the season sweep following their win on Tuesday night.

The BIG EAST Tournament kicks off on Saturday at 4 p.m. (Central) at DePaul's McGrath-Phillips Arena when No. 10 Providence faces No. 7 Seton Hall. The Pirates earned the season sweep of the Friars, but the lower-seeded team has historically been victorious in their postseason showdowns.

No. 8 Georgetown and No. 9 Xavier will complete the First Round action at 6:30 p.m. The two squads split the season series with each home team successfully defending their home court. The Hoyas defeated PC in the First Round of the 2013 BIG EAST Tournament before bowing out in the Second Round to Villanova.

The winner of the Providence-Seton Hall tilt will face No. 2 St. John's at noon on Sunday at Allstate Arena. The Red Storm won at Providence by 21 in Monday's regular-season finale and swept both SHU and PC, with neither team getting closer than nine points at the final buzzer.

Following the St. John's Quarterfinal contest will be No. 3 Creighton versus No. 6 Butler. The two are playing in tonight's regular-season finale and the Bulldogs won Game 1 of the season series. Their Quarterfinal date is set for 2:30 p.m.

Hometown favorite and top seed DePaul will debut at 6 p.m. against the winner of the Xavier-Georgetown tilt. The Blue Demons are 8-8 all-time at the BIG EAST Tournament, knocking off Marquette in the Second Round as last season's No. 7 seed. DePaul has gone 1-1 in all eight appearances at the annual postseason tournament.

The Golden Eagles and Wildcats will cap Day 2 at 8:30 p.m. All four Quarterfinal contests will be streamed free on

Monday's BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals are set for 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at Allstate Arena. FOX Sports 1 will air both Semifinal contests, as well as Tuesday's championship bout. LaChina Robinson and Tiffany Greene will be the featured on-air talent.
