CINCINNATI – Sophomore Xavier University women’s basketball center Ta’Shia Phillips, and the senior tandem of Tudy Reed and Jerri Taylor have earned postseason recognition from the Atlantic 10 Conference in a vote by league coaches as announced on Wednesday, March 3 by the league.  Phillips is the second Musketeer ever to be selected as the A-10 Player of the Year.  Jennifer Phillips also earned the award during the 2000-01 season.  Reed and Taylor were each named to the All A-10 Third Team.    

Phillips, who also earned a spot on the First Team and on the All-Defensive Team, averaged 13.6 points and 11.6 rebounds while shooting 62.7 percent from the field.  She led the league in rebounding and field goal percentage and was seventh in the conference in scoring.  Phillips is also second in the A-10 at 1.77 blocks per game.

Reed, the 2007-08 A-10 Sixth Player of the Year, averaged 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.  She played in all 30 of XU’s games and earned 29 starts.  Reed also shot 39 percent from 3-point range in 27.9 minutes per game. 

Xavier, which earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, will take on either No. 8 Dayton or No. 9 Saint Louis on Saturday at 12 p.m.
