Boothe, Granderson Earn A-10 Honors




PHILDADELPHIA --- Xavier sophomore Tara Boothe and freshman Suntana Granderson were both honored with awards on Thursday as part of the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Championship Banquet.

Boothe, a graduate of Highlands High School in Northern Kentucky, was named First Team All-Conference and was named to the All-Academic Team.

Last year, Boothe was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and was named to the All-Conference Third Team.

This season Boothe leads the team with 18.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She is in the Top 10 in the Atlantic 10 for both categories.

Boothe is the seventh player in Xavier history to be named to the A-10 First Team. Those seven players have won a total of nine First Team honors. She is the third Musketeer player to be named to the All-Academic Team.

Granderson, a rookie from South Bend, Ind., is second on Xavier for scoring at 9.5 points per game. She is averaging 2.2 three pointers per game.

Granderson is the ninth Xavier player to be named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team. The Musketeers have been represented on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in eight of their nine years in the league.

In all, 14 Xavier players have earned a total of 38 All-Conference honors in XU’s nine years in the league.

The Musketeers (16-11) open play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament at 4 p.m. Friday with a game against Fordham. Xavier holds the longest active streak in the Atlantic 10 with six appearances in the conference tournament semifinals.
