PHILADELPHIA - The Xavier women's basketball team is in Philadelphia for a mid-week match-up at Temple Wednesday night. Tip-off between the Musketeers and Owls is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at TU's McGonigle Hall.
About the Musketeers
Xavier (9-15, 2-7 A-10) has now won three of its last four games with a 59-40 win over Rhode Island Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. With four games remaining on its conference slate, XU is battling for its place in the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship. As a team, Xavier ranks second in the A-10 in defensive rebounds (27.0), third in rebounding defense (34.6), fourth in field goal percentage (.397) and 3-point field goal percentage (.320) and fifth in free throw percentage (.716) and rebounding margin (+3.2).
The Musketeers are led by senior Amber Gray who averages 11.4 ppg. (17th A-10) while shooting 79.6 percent from the line (6th A-10). Junior Shatyra Hawkes dishes out a team-best 3.7 apg. (10th A-10) and holds a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio (8th A-10) and senior Jessica Pachko grabs a team-best 6.5 rpg. (19th A-10) and shoots at a 53.0 clip. Junior Ashley Wanninger sinks 35.7 percent of her shots from behind the arc (8th A-10) and averages 1.9 3-point baskets per contest (6th A-10).
Temple (12-13, 5-5 A-10) is coming off a 49-41 overtime loss at Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon, the team's second loss in its last four game. Natasha Thames led the Owls with a game-high 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, Temple leads the A-10 in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.234) and ranks third in field goal percentage defense (.357), rebounding offense (40.5) and defensive rebounds (26.4).
The Owls are led by Victoria Macauley with 14.2 ppg., 9.2 rpg. and 2.9 bpg. while shooting at a team-best .438 clip. Rateska Brown also averages double-figures scoring with 10.3 ppg. and Thames grabs an average of 7.4 boards per contest for TU.
The Owls and the Musketeers have previously me 23 times in the all-times series between the two programs. Xavier holds the 13-10 advantage and has won three of the last four meetings between the two. Temple picked up the 64-38 win over Xavier last season on Jan. 24 at XU's Cintas Center.

Xavier jumped out early on the visiting Rhode Island Rams Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center and never looked back. Leading by as many as 23 at one point, the Musketeers claimed the 59-40 win, their third victory in the last four games. Senior Jessica Pachko tallied a team-high 12 points while senior Amber Gray added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds on the Musketeers' Senior Day. Gray also recorded three steals while junior Ty O'Neill dished out a game-high six assists.
