Boothe Wins A-10 Rookie Honor For The Ninth Time

CINCINNATI--- For the ninth time this season, Xavier freshman Tara Boothe has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.

Her ninth citation establishes a new league record. The previous mark was eight that Susan Moran of Saint Joseph’s set in 1998-99.

This season, Boothe, a graduate of Highlands High School, is averaging 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Boothe got her week started last Sunday by tying an NCAA record while playing all 60 minutes in Xavier’s 94-92, quadruple overtime win over George Washington at the Cintas Center. In that contest, she led Xavier with career highs of 31 points and 19 rebounds. Thirteen of Boothe’s points in the game came in the four overtime periods.

On Thursday at Temple, Boothe had 15 points and eight rebounds in Xavier’s 64-56 victory.

Yesterday against La Salle Boothe recorded her ninth double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds as Xavier downed the Explorers 65-51.

In the three games, Boothe averaged 20.3 points and 12.3 rebounds.

The Musketeers will return to action on Friday night at 7 p.m. when they host St. Bonaventure at the Cintas Center.

Xavier is 17-7 this year with three regular season contests remaining. The Musketeers are 9-4 in the Atlantic 10, which places them second in the A-10 West. The top two teams in each division receive byes for the first round of the conference tournament.
