CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's basketball team is set to play host to the La Salle Explorers Sunday for the Musketeers' Pink Out game as part of the Play 4 Kay initiative. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Cintas Center. The first 500 fans will receive a free pink pom pom - be sure to wear pink!

La Salle Outlasts XU Women, 52-49, in A-10 Tourney First Round
The Xavier women's basketball dropped a heart-breaking 52-49 decision to La Salle Friday afternoon in its Atlantic 10 Championship first round game held at Saint's Joseph's Hagan Arena. The Musketeers' last-second half-court shot fell short as XU was eliminated from postseason play. Junior Amber Gray led the Musketeers with 14 points, one of four in double-figures.

About the Musketeers
Xavier (7-15, 1-7 A-10) dropped a 78-68 decision at No. 18/15 Dayton on Thursday as three Musketeers posted double-figures scoring including senior Amber Gray who led all scorers with 21 points. As a team, XU ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in defensive rebounds (27.4) and defensive rebounding percentage (.724), third in 3-point field goal percentage (.323) and rebounding defense (37.4), fourth in field goal percentage (.393) and fifth in rebounding margin (+3.8).

The Musketeers are led by Gray who averages 11.3 ppg. (18th A-10) while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 78.7 percent from the line (6th A-10). Junior Shatyra Hawkes dishes out a team-best 3.7 apg. (9th A-10) and holds a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio (8th A-10) and senior Jessica Pachko grabs a team-best 6.5 rpg. (17th A-10) and shoots at a 52.1 clip. Junior Ashley Wanninger sinks 36.4 percent of her shots from behind the arc (8th A-10) and averages 2.0 3-point baskets per contest (t-6th A-10).



Scouting La Salle
La Salle (7-15, 3-4 A-10) has dropped back-to-back Atlantic 10 contests at home, including most recently a 69-49 loss to Fordham on Wednesday. The Explorers had two players in double-digit scoring as Shanel Harrison led LAS with 13 points and Ebonee Jones added 11 points. As a team, La Salle ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in offensive rebounds (14.9), tied for third in blocked shots (4.9) and sixth in steals (8.5).

The Explorers are led by Brittany Wilson with a league-leading 18.3 ppg., 6.5 rpg. (18th A-10) and she shoots at a .376 clip while dishing out a team-best 2.8 apg. (14th A-10). Karynda Dupree swats 1.7 blocks per game (7th A-10) for La Salle as well.

The Series
The Explorers and the Musketeers have previously met 34 times with XU holding the 24-10 advantage in the series. La Salle has a two-game winning streak against Xavier, taking both meetings between the two squads last season. XU holds a 14-2 record against LAS in games played in Cincinnati.

Senior Amber Gray led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting Thursday night as the Musketeers fell to the No. 18/15 Dayton Flyers, 78-68, in Dayton. Freshman Aliyah Zantt added a career-high 14 points on the night while dishing out three assists and tallying a career-high three steals while freshman Briana Glover chipped in 13 points as the third Musketeer in double-figures scoring. XU won the battle of the boards, 39-32, while shooting 45.0 percent from the floor for the game.
