Xavier Student-Athletes Continue To Shine In The Classroom

CINCINNATI - Xavier University's strong academic tradition continues to be upheld by its student-athletes after a successful Fall 2013 semester. This past semester, the overall student-athlete GPA was 3.23. This GPA represents the average each of Xavier's nearly 300 student-athletes' fall-term GPA's.
The Women's Golf team led the way with a program-high 3.8 GPA. Nine of Xavier's 16 sports programs had a 3.3 GPA or higher, including Women's Tennis, Women's Soccer, Women's Cross Country, Men's Tennis, Women's Swimming, Men's Swimming, Men's Soccer and Baseball.
Thirteen student-athletes also earned 4.0 term GPA's for the Fall Semester. These student-athletes include Spencer Liechty (Men's CC/Political Science), Emily Wolery (Women's CC/Biology), Katie Schweer (Women's Soccer/Accounting), Shane Crutchfield (Women's Golf/Business Undecided), Garrett Halfhill (Men's Soccer/Marketing), Matt Hill (Men's Soccer/Accounting), Michael Gordon (Men's Swimming/Finance), Armando Moss (Men's Swimming/Accounting), Lynn Brotherton (Women's Swimming/Early Childhood Education), Maddie Day (Women's Swimming/Public Relations), Kristen Liebert (Women's Swimming/Business Undecided), Stephen Schoettmer (Baseball/Sport Administration) and Mitch Elliott (Baseball/Public Relations).
This past October, the NCAA released its latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for student-athletes in Division I athletics. Xavier posted a score of 97 percent, which placed it tied for 12th in the nation and first in the BIG EAST.
