NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Xavier’s Amber Harris and Wumi Agunbiade of Duquesne have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday. Harris earns her fourth citation this season, while Agunbiade was recognized for the fifth time this year.

Harris paced Xavier to a pair of wins against league foes St. Bonaventure and Charlotte last week, averaging a double-double of 23.5 points and 12.0 rebounds a game. With the win over SBU on Wednesday, XU has now won 18 straight contests at home which is tied for the ninth longest active home-court winning streak in the nation (Duke). Xavier has won 20 consecutive Atlantic 10 conference regular season games as well dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Harris began the week, leading all scorers with 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in Xavier’s first of two double-digit wins for the week, a 76-56 victory over visiting St. Bonaventure on Jan. 19. She also added four assists in 33 minutes played for the Musketeers. Harris followed with 40 minutes of action at Charlotte on Jan. 22, as XU handed the Niners a 21-point loss, 82-61, at Halton Arena. Harris was one off her season high with a game-high 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist.

Agunbiade averaged a double-double of 14.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in an even 1-1 week for Duquesne. The Pickering, Ontario, native scored 15 points and corralled 12 rebounds against Richmond on Jan. 19, while adding two blocks and an assist. She shot 56 percent (5-9) from the field, 50 percent (1-2) from three-point territory and 80 percent (4-5) at the line against the Spiders. Agunbiade followed that performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds at La Salle on Jan. 22, shooting 60 percent (6-10) from the field with a career-high five assists, two steals and one block against the Explorers.



Charlotte’s Shannon McCallum recorded her 17th career 20-point scoring game with a season-high 23 points against #7/7 Xavier….Kristin Daugherty of Dayton scored 19 points, including a perfect 11-11 performance at the line, in the Flyers’ win at Richmond…Fordham’s Becky Peters netted a career-high 27 points in the Rams’ narrow victory over George Washington…Tiana Myers of George Washington averaged a team-leading 19.5 points on 56 percent shooting in a two-game week for the Colonials…La Salle’s Ashley Gale averaged a double-double of 15.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in the Explorers’ two games last week…Megan Shoniker of Rhode Island averaged 17.0 points in two games for the Rams last week…St. Bonaventure’s Megan Van Tatenhove averaged 17.5 points, shooting 58 percent (15-26) from the field in the Bonnies’ two games last week…Kelly Cavallo of Saint Joseph’s averaged a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds against Temple and Massachusetts…Saint Louis sophomore guard Jacy Bradley posted a career high for three-pointers (five) for a second consecutive game and scored a team-high 17 points at Massachusetts…Shey Peddy of Temple led the Owls to a 2-0 week, averaging 19.5 points, while shooting 41 percent from the field.
