CINCINNATI - Senior All-American candidate Tara Boothe and junior guard Suntana Granderson each scored 20 points to lead the Xavier University women's basketball team past Robert Morris, 93-51, on Friday evening at Cintas Center. With the win, XU improves to 9-2 on the season while the Colonials slip to 5-5.

The nine wins mark the most non-conference regular season wins since Kevin McGuff took over prior to the 2002-03 season. Xavier posted non-conference records of 8-3 in both the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.

The 93 points mark the most XU has scored under Kevin McGuff in regulation and are the most regulation points since XU defeated Saint Bonaventure 93-82 on February 25, 2001.

The 42-point margin of victory represented XU's most lopsided win since the Musketeers trounced Akron 90-44 on November 19, 2001.

Boothe's 20 came on 8-of-11 shooting. She also snared five rebounds on the night. Granderson's 20 point effort, the 11th of her career and third in-a-row, came on 6-of-11 shooting including 4-of-9 from deep.

Miranda Green was one point shy of tying a career high. The junior scored 17 points and also chased down four rebounds. Michele Miller put together yet another solid all-around game with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Junior Deanna Mason recorded a career-high eight points and also pulled down six rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Freshman Danitra Lewis posted new career highs with five points and ten rebounds. Classmate Jerri Taylor scored eight points and hit on two of her four attempts from deep.

Senior Kristy Wallner scored three points and pulled down three rebounds in 19 foul-plagued minutes.

XU did not let up after building a 44-29 halftime lead as Granderson opened up the second half with a pair of long-balls. Boothe and Miller then combined for six points as the Musketeers extended to a 56-33 lead at the 14:50 mark.

Xavier kept the pedal to the metal, outscoring RMU 28-9 over the final ten-minutes and cruised to a 93-51 win.

XU shot 54 percent (34-for-63) from the floor and posted a sizzling 58.8 shooting percentage in the second half. Xavier also won the battle of the boards 45-to-33 and held a 35-to-23 edge in defensive rebounds.

Robert Morris took an early 5-0 lead and led 15-14 7:50 into the contest. Colonial guard Natasha Summerville scored all 11 of her first half points in the first 7:50.

The Musketeers would answer with an 18-3 run over the next five minutes and seized a commanding 32-18 lead with five-minutes remaining in the first session.

The Colonials would sprint out to a 9-4 run, closing to 36-27 with 2:30 to go. However, XU closed the first half with an 8-2 run and led 44-29 at the break.

The Musketeers will open up Atlantic 10 Conference play on Tuesday, January 3 when the team travels to Charlotte. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. and fans can follow the action through gametracker and live internet radio broadcast. All the action can be accessed on GOXAVIER.com.
