CINCINNATI - The dynamic duo of Tara Boothe and Suntana Granderson scored 22 and 21 points respectively, propelling the Xavier University women's basketball team to a 75-68 over Florida State on Wednesday evening at Cintas Center. With the win, XU improves to 8-2 on the season while the Seminoles slip to 7-3.

The win was XU's 16th consecutive at home and the Musketeers improve to 2-1 all-time vs. the `Noles.

Boothe's 22 came on 8-of-14 shooting and the senior All-American candidate also snared eight rebounds and had three steals. Granderson, a Preseason Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, was 3-of-6 from deep on the night.

None of Granderson's 3-poiners were bigger than the one she drained at the 2:30 mark. With the score tied, 62-62 and the shot clock winding down, Granderson collected a loose ball and dribbled to the wing. The junior hoisted a shot in the air with two defenders in her face that found the bottom of the net, giving Xavier a 65-62 lead it would not relinquish.

XU would ice the game by hitting on all six of its free throws in the game's final 21-seconds.

Junior guard Michele Miller put in another outstanding performance on Wednesday, scoring 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting and snaring eight rebounds. Miller connected on her only attempt from deep and played all 40 minutes.

Junior guard Miranda Green was solid at the point for XU, scoring 14 points and dishing out four assists.

After leading 28-27 at the half, XU stormed out to an 8-0 run to start the second session and seized a 36-27 lead with 18-minutes remaining. FSU countered with a 7-0 run to pull to within two points and used another 7-0 spurt to take a 53-48 lead at the 8:30 mark.

Boothe would score eight of XU's next 10 points to knot the game at 58 at the 4:10 mark and Miller drained four consecutive free throws to knot the score at 62, setting up Granderson's game-changing 3-pointer.

Ganiyat Adeduntan led five Seminoles in double-figures with 14 points.

After a cold shooting first half, XU heated up in the second stanza and hit on 59.1 percent of its shots and was also 17-of-21 from the charity stripe.

Xavier out-rebounded its opponent for the sixth time this season (34-to-26) and the Musketeers have won all six of those showdowns.

XU came out ice cold, hitting on only one of its first 10 attempts from the field and falling behind 7-2 just 5:20 into the contest. XU would answer though and took a 12-11 lead at the 10:40 mark on a Boothe lay-up.

The first half was back-and-forth for the remainder as the opening session featured 10 lead changes and four ties. Boothe scored 10 in the first half including a pair of free throws with 16-seconds remaining to give XU a 28-27 lead heading into the break.

The Musketeers will return to action on Friday, December 30 when the team faces Robert Morris. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Cintas Center.
