
Ta'Shia Phillips Snares 20 Rebounds but Xavier Falls at Louisville

Junior guard Jerri Taylor was the only other Musketeer in double-figures. The Taylor drained a 3-pointer in the second minute of the second half to cut the deficit to nine but the Cardinals took control of the contest with a 14-3 run over the next 5:20 to open up a 20-point lead at the 13-minute mark. The Musketeers were one shy of a school-record with 29 turnovers and XU was also chilly 5-of-15 from the free throw line, while The first 7:20 of the first half included three ties and three lead changes, the last tie coming at the 12:40 mark after Phillips converted on a put-back to knot the score up 10-10. XU would not go away though and closed to within two points, 21-19, after Phillips hit another put-back basket at with 3:50 to go. That rebound was one of Phillips' 14 in the first session. U of L would close out the half on a 10-2 run and seized a 31-21 lead at the break. Cardinal All-American Angel McCoughtry, who is also the nation's leading scorer, scored eight points in the final 2:50 of the first half.
