MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Xavier women's basketball team dropped a 63-48 decision at Middle Tennessee Thursday night at MT's Murphy Center. Senior Jessica Pachko lead the team with 10 points while three Musketeers grabbed five rebounds apiece.

Xavier falls to an even 4-4 on the season while Middle Tennessee improves to 6-3 overall.

Also for the Musketeers, senior Amber Gray and sophomore Lakeisha Crouch each chipped in nine points while Gray and juniors Shatyra Hawkes and Ashley Wanninger corralled five boards each.

XU went 20-of-40 from the field for a 50.0 percent clip and 6-for-8 from the line (75.0%). MT shot 42.6 percent from the field and only 54.5 percent from the charity stripe. The rebounds were even at 29 per team but the Musketeers committed 27 turnovers to the Blue Raiders' 13.

MT stretched its lead to as many as 17, 61-44, with just under three minutes to play. The Blue Raiders held the Musketeers scoreless for seven minutes as Middle Tennessee took control of the game. The game had been close through the first 30 minutes of regulation with five tied and seven lead changes.

The Musketeers started the ballgame strong, jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead. The Blue Raiders went up three, 13-10, with back-to-back jumpers and led by as many as six, 30-24, with just over a minute left in the first frame. XU had the chance to cut the MT lead to one heading into the locker room but Hawkes' long-range 3-pointer at the buzzer wouldn't go. Xavier went 11-of-22 from the floor in the first half but struggled with 11 turnovers.

The Blue Raiders were led by Ebony Rowe with a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds. MT had two other players in double-figures scoring in Icelyn Elie (13) and Janay Brinkley (10).

Xavier returns to action December 15 when it returns home to Cintas Center to play host to Wright State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
