CINCINNATI - Senior forward Joei Clyburn poured in a game-high 21 points and snared a team-high six rebounds to lead the Xavier University women's basketball team past St. Bonaventure, 78-55, on Sunday evening at Cintas Center. With the win the Musketeers improve to 16-6 on the year and 4-2 in Atlantic 10 action. The Bonnies slip to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in the loop.

Senior point guard Miranda Green added 12 points and scored the 1,000th of her career on a free throw in the first half. Green was 4-of-5 from the field and tallied three steals on the afternoon.

Clyburn's 21 came on 9-of-15 shooting and she also matched a career-high with three steals.

Freshman forward Amber Harris joined Clyburn in double-figures with 12 points. Harris also blocked two shots and made all four of her free throw attempts.

Sophomore guard Jerri Taylor continued to come out of a shooting slump, tying a season-high with nine points on 4-of-7 shooting and also chased down five boards.

Xavier built a 39-24 halftime lead and squelched any thought of a Bonnies comeback by scoring the first six points of the second half and storming out to a 16-5 run over the first 7:30 of the second stanza to seize a commanding 55-29 lead.

SBU would be unable to whittle the XU advantage under 20-points as the Musketeers cruised to victory.

XU once again out-rebounded its opponent, this time by a 34-to-32 margin and Xavier took advantage of a 44-to-18 advantage in points in the paint.

The Musketeers took care of business from the free throw line, going 13-for-14 from the charity stripe while SBU was a paltry 4-of-11 from the free throw line.

XU forced the Bonnies into 22 turnovers and posted a season-high 14 steals. Xavier turned the ball over only 13 times including four in the second half.

XU continued a trend of falling behind early and trailed 11-7 at the 15:20 mark. However, XU sprinted out to a 9-0 run over the next 1:50 and extended that spurt to a dominating 17-3 run over the next seven-minutes to take 24-14 lead with 8:10 left in the first half.

The run was highlighted by a six points from Green including a pair of free throws at the 15:08 mark, which pushed her career scoring total to 1,000 points.

SBU pulled to within five points, 28-23, at the 4:40 mark but XU answered by ending the half on an 11-1 run and took a convincing 39-24 lead into the locker room.

Xavier is back in action for a pivotal contest at Temple on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.
