Senior Jessica Pachko's eight first-half points helped her surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career

RICHMOND, Va. - Despite leading by as many as 16 in the second half, the Xavier women's basketball fell, 73-63, in overtime at Richmond Sunday afternoon. Four Musketeers scored in double figures, including junior Ashley Wanninger with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for her first career double-double.
Also for the Musketeers, senior Amber Gray added 10 points as one of four players in double-figures scoring to go with a game-high 16 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal. In her first game back from a foot injury, senior Jessica Pachko chipped in 13 points as she surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the first half of the game. Her 11 rebounds rounded out the three double-doubles posted by the Musketeers.
Xavier falls to 6-13 overall and 0-5 in Atlantic 10 Conference play while Richmond improves to 12-9 on the season and 2-3 in league contests.
XU out-rebounded UR, 53-36, but committed 21 turnovers to the Spiders' nine. Xavier dominated the paint, scoring 34 points while Richmond mustered only 14 points in the paint. For the game, XU shot 36.7 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from long range and 75.0 percent from the line.
With 9:32 left in regulation, Xavier held a commanding 55-39 lead after a 7-1 run by the Musketeers. UR's Samantha Bilney's jumper at the 6:17 mark spark a Richmond rally that would send the game into overtime with the score knotted at 59-all. The Spiders used a 28-5 run to close out the game, including 14 points in overtime alone, to seal the 73-63 win.
Xavier jumped out to the 15-6 lead out of the gate on the strength of six points from Pachko. The lead was then stretched to 12, 21-9, with just over 10 minutes left in the first frame. The Spiders were able to cut into the Musketeer lead after scoring five unanswered, 26-18, but XU held on for the nine-point advantage, 32-23, heading into the locker room at the break.
The Musketeers were led by Pachko in the first frame with eight points, enabling her to surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career. Gray had six points, seven rebounds and four assists in the first 20 minutes as XU shot 46.4 percent from the floor to UR's 22.2 percent.
The Spiders were led by Rachael Bilney with a game-high 22 points after scoring zero points in the first half. Ryann Dannelly grabbed a team-best nine rebounds in the win for Richmond.
Xavier returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 31 with a mid-week home contest against Saint Louis. Tip-off between the Musketeers and the Bilikens is set for 7 p.m. at Cintas Center.
