Sept. 27, 2012
CINCINNATI - Senior Brandon MacDonald and juniors Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei will represent the Xavier men's tennis team at the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's All-American Championship that begins this weekend in Tulsa, Okla. All three players will start play in the pre-qualifying singles round that begins on Saturday. Players must win four rounds to reach qualifying play that begins on Monday. They will then have to win three rounds to advance to the main draw starting on Oct. 4. It will be just the second event that the top players from the Musketeers will compete in this fall. Roebker has a 3-1 singles record this year and a three-match winning streak. He won the singles championships at the Jack Vredevelt Invite to open the season. Mei and MacDonald were named to the All-Tournament Team at the same event after posting a 3-1 record. The only losses came in their final matches of the tournament. The trio of players are the first to play in the All-American Championship since 2008. Doug Matthews and Chris Herrlinger qualified for the event that season.
