CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's tennis team will open its 2013 fall season this weekend at the Jack Vredevelt Invite hosted by Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. Matches will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the recently renovated Sorenson Courts.

Veteran Musketeers Mesa Mei, Jimmy Roebker, Zach Mueck, Adam Krull and Freddy Abunku return to lead Xavier in the 2013-14 season. Mei registered a 29-9 overall record a season ago, including a 10-4 mark during the fall tournament season. Roebker closed last year at 25-10 overall and 8-3 in the fall, while Mueck went 28-9 and 9-4, respectively. Krull was 26-11 overall, while Abunku was 11-8.

Roebker was a first team all-conference and all-academic team honoree last season in the Atlantic 10. Joining Roebker on the first team was Mei, and Mueck garnered second team accolades.

At this event last season the combination of Roebker and Mei was enough to beat Illinois State's Alexander Pelaez and Erik Brunskog, 8-6, who were seeded at the number one slot and opened the door for a strong Musketeer showing. Xavier closed out of the invite winning seven singles matches and sweeping four doubles matches.
