Four Musketeers Named To Spring Academic All-Conference Teams


 

 

CINCINNATI - The Atlantic 10 Conference named four Xavier University athletes to Spring Academic All-Conference Teams on Monday as voted on by the conference's sports information directors.

Senior Kerrie Kramer (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) led the Musketeer nominees as she was named the Atlantic 10 women's tennis Student-Athlete of the Year. Kramer recorded a 21-10 record in singles play and a 4-1 record in doubles competition while serving as a co-captain for Xavier this season. She also went 16-11 in singles play last season and had a 31-14 mark in doubles play during her first two seasons at XU. Kramer graduated as a four year member of the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll with a 3.95 GPA as a marketing major.

Also named to their respective A-10 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams were Eric Greenwell, Rob Bakker and Michael Kleinert.

Greenwell, a junior second baseman on the Musketeer baseball team, led Xavier from the leadoff slot with a .348 average and 10 stolen bases while also recording 30 RBI, 72 hits, 36 runs scored, 10 doubles and five triples. He also ended the season with a .473 slugging percentage, a .402 on-base percentage and a .955 fielding percentage while being named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as part of Xavier's 27-27 season which ended in its first trip to the A-10 post season since 1997. Greenwell is a finance major with a 3.20 ERA.

Baaker, a senior on the Xavier men's tennis team, was named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team for the second time this academic year as he was also honored in the fall at the conclusion of his career as a member of the Musketeer's men's soccer team. Baaker also excelled as an athlete. He was named to the A-10 All-Conference first team as a soccer player in 2001 and a tennis player in 2002. Baaker graduated with a 3.33 GPA as a business major.

Kleinert, a junior and fellow member of the men's tennis team, held a 2-3 singles mark and 4-3 doubles record this season for Xavier. He also went a combined 5-7 singles record and a 10-8 doubles mark in his two previous seasons combined for the Musketeers. Kleinert holds a 4.00 GPA as a marketing major.
