Xavier Earns No. 4 Seed In Men's BIG EAST Championships

CINCINNATI - The seeding for the BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships presented by NEW YORK LIFE was announced on Tuesday and Xavier has earned the No. 4 seed for the tournament that begins on April 24th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

With eight teams competing on the men's side, action in that bracket begins with Friday's quarterfinals with the Musketeers squaring off against the No. 5 seed, Butler (10-9), at 3 p.m.

The Musketeers defeated the Bulldogs during the spring season, April 11, with a final score, 6-1.

As a team, the Musketeers concluded their regular spring season with an overall record of 13-10, while posting a 76-62 (55.1 percent) record in singles and 33-24 (57.9 percent) record in doubles. Against conference opponents, the Musketeers are 13-11 in singles and 8-3 in doubles.

Seniors Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei form a tenacious pair at the top of doubles lineup, recording an overall record of 11-4 when playing alongside one another.

Tennis standouts Jimmy Roebker, Mesa Mei, Zach Mueck, Adam Krull and Jeremy Schneider each earned double digit winning records this spring season, combining for an overall record of 68-43.

Winners of the quarterfinals will advance to Saturday's semifinal round. For those teams that do not obtain victories will be consolation matches that can be moved indoors.
