CINCINNATI-- The Xavier men’s tennis team will be looking for its fourth Atlantic 10 title in five years as the Musketeers have earned the No. 2 seed in this year’s Atlantic 10 tournament. Xavier will begin play in the tournament Friday at 5 p.m. at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The Musketeers face the winner of No. 7 seed Saint Joseph’s and No. 10 seed Dayton.
Xavier finished with a perfect 5-0 record against A-10 opponents and closed out the season with eight straight wins. Last season, the Musketeers fell in the tournament finals to George Washington, but won the previous three championship contests.
Musketeer sophomores Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker have taken the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honor two-consecutive weeks. Roebker was named the conference Rookie of the Year last season while Mei and junior Brandon MacDonald each earned a spot on the A-10 Second Team.
The Musketeers defeated Saint Joseph’s 7-0 in their previous meeting on March, 16 and XU topped UD 6-1 on April 4.
