CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's tennis team resumes play after a nine-day layoff and opens up a three-match streak of Atlantic 10 opponents beginning with matches against Dayton and Richmond.
The Musketeers (10-2, 2-0 Atlantic 10) will take on the Flyers (2-8, 0-1 A-10) at 6 p.m. on Saturday in Dayton. The Spiders (5-7, 1-1 A-10) make a visit to Cincinnati for a 1 p.m. match on Monday at the Mercy Fairfield HealthPlex.
Xavier rebounded after its nine-match winning streak was snapped with a 4-3 victory over Hawaii last Thursday. The Musketeers fell to Hawaii-Pacific, the fifth-ranked Div. II school, by a 4-3 decision that broke the streak.
Throughout the spring freshman Adam Krull has played impressively at the No. 5 singles position, having won 10-straight matchups. He isn't the only Musketeer who is having a solid last 10 matches. Senior Brandon MacDonald, junior Mesa Mei and freshman Zach Mueck are all 9-1 in their last 10 contests.
MacDonald also recently etched his name at the top of Xavier's all-time singles leaderboard with his 91st-career victory over Chas Okamoto of Hawaii.
The Musketeers have won the doubles point in 11-consecutive matches, posting a season record of 26-7 in dual pairings.
Dayton is stumbling coming into the weekend having lost five-straight decisions. Richmond is coming off its fifth win of the spring and face the Flyers on Sunday.
