XU Men's Tennis Sweeps DePauw, 7-0



CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Xavier men's tennis team swept visting DePauw, 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Fairfield Tennis Courts.

With the win, XU improves to 7-3 overall and earns its fourth win in seven Spring dual matches. De Pauw falls to 1-2 on the season.

The Musketeers won all six singles matches as well as the three doubles matches on the day.

Senior Matt Thinnes won at number one singles (6-1, 6-3) over Marshall Kuresman and at second doubles along with Rob Simpson.

Classmate Rob Simpson won in straight sets (7-6, 6-2) against Greg Nammari at second singles and teamed up with Scott Triplett to win at third doubles.

Sophomore Justin Yeager was a winner at number three singles in three sets over Aaron Gress by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

At number four singles, junior Ryan Potts defeated Darren Eblovi by scores of 6-4, 6-4.

Simpson and Triplett also went on to win in straight sets at fifth and sixth singles respectively.

At first doubles, the duo of junior Brad Meadors and senior Christian Lovelace earned an 8-5 victory.

The Musketeers will travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for Spring Break. Their first match will be against Sacred Heart on March 3.
