CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's tennis team opens up the Atlantic 10 Conference portion of its schedule when it faces Duquesne on the road seeking to extend a seven-match winning streak.
The Musketeers (7-1) earned three 7-0 victories last weekend giving them six-straight heading into their first road match since facing IUPUI on Jan. 20. Junior Mesa Mei and freshman Adam Krull led Xavier into the 1 p.m. match Friday at Alpha Tennis and Fitness in Pittsburgh.
Mei is a perfect 8-0 to start the singles season and earned Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week honors on Tuesday following five combined victories last weekend. Krull went 4-0 in his matches and was rewarded with the league's Rookie Performer of the Week award.
The rest of the Musketeer squad has had equally impressive seasons so far. Junior Jimmy Roebker has a 6-1 record at the No. 1 singles position with his only loss coming to the nation's top player Peter Kobelt. Freshman Zach Mueck and senior Brandon MacDonald have 7-1 marks in their singles matches this year.
The Musketeers are 41-7 in singles dual matches this spring and have not dropped a singles match since Jan. 18.
Xavier's doubles teams have had equally notable starts to the dual match calendar. Led by the duo of Roebker and Mei the Musketeers are 18-4 in doubles matches.
