Xavier's Sturdevan Records Win Over Big 10 Opponent

Xavier junior tennis player Danny Sturdevan (Knoxville, TN/South Doyle) recorded what Head Coach Jim Brockhoff called "the biggest win for Xavier tennis in the last 15 years." Sturdevan knocked off Michigan State #1 singles star Goran Topalo on Saturday in a meet with Michigan State and Western Illinois.

Sturdevan was able to recover from a very slow start that saw him drop the first set 6-1. He fought back to win sets two and three by scores of 6-4 and 7-5, respectively. It was Sturdevan's second win of the spring season. Michigan State won the match 6-1.

Earlier the same day, Sturdevan defeated Sean Moran (#1 singles player) of Western Illinois by a score of 7-5, 6-2. The Musketeers went on to win easily (7-0).

The Musketeers will compete again February 22 against Robert Morris.
