Menís Tennis Defeated 4-3 by Buffalo
OLEAN, N.Y. Ė The Xavier menís tennis team was defeated 4-3 by Buffalo on Sunday morning as the Musketeers concluded their weekend in Olean, N.Y. XU falls to 4-3 with the loss while the Bulls improve to 2-4 on the season.
Xavier went up 1-0 by taking the doubles point with wins at the first and second positions. At No. 1, Justin Yeager and Rob Simpson improved to 10-10 as the duo defeated Nick Zieziula and Josh Liederman, 8-2. Jeremy Miller and JR Randall teamed up at No. 2 for an 8-3 win over Yules Hadisubroto and Alejandro Galindo.
In singles play, Justin Yeager and Brian Schubert recorded the two wins for the Musketeers. Yeager won his second straight match and improved his record to 7-9 as the senior defeated Leiederman at No. 3, 7-6 (2), 6-4. At No. 5, Schubert recorded the 10th win of his young career with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat of Alejandro Galindo.
Xavier will return to the courts on Friday, Feb. 18, when the Musketeers travel to the Orchard Hill Racquet Club in Lima, Ohio for a match with the Rockets of the University of Toledo.
