Xavier Men Complete Fall Slate At ITA
Oct. 24, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Xavier junior Bobby Deye played hard against one of the top seeds in the Wilson ITA Ohio Valley Regional Saturday at Indiana University. Deye faced Tennessee's Rhyne Williams and fell 6-2, 6-2. "We played and competed very well today. Bobby Deye played Rhyne Williams from Tennessee very well today and proved he can compete with the nation's elite," said XU coach Eric Toth. "He will be an integral part of our success this year." In the doubles competition senior Chris Herrlinger and sophomore Patrick Bandy fell 8-4 to Vaderbilt's Lipman and Paul. "Herrlinger and Bandy have established themselves as a very good doubles team for us," said Toth. "If a couple more breaks go our way and we execute in a couple of situations a little better things could have gotten more interesting against Paul and Lipman from Vanderbilt. I am really happy how we progressed this fall as a team. Our results improved in each tournament. Going into the spring I feel as strongly as I have in the past when I know we can compete with any team in the country. A lot of work is to be done before we get going in January and we look forward to the start of our dual match season." The Xavier men's tennis team will begin the regular dual match season January 20, at Ohio State
