First Day Of Tournament Play Sets Tone For Musketeers

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Early this morning, the men's tennis team took to the Dr. Robert L.Barksdale Tennis Stadium's courts in search of big wins.
In singles, Zach Mueck defeated Lipscomb's David Salazar in a two set battle, 6-4, 7-6(4). Senior Mesa Mei followed in his teammate's footsteps defeating Ball State's Patrick Elliot in two sets of, 6-2, each. The stellar sophomore Adam Krull was dealt the unfortunate hand for the musketeers this afternoon as Middle Tennessee's Aaron Jumonville defeated him in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
In doubles, Krull and Moe were defeated by Chattanooga's Pavel Grigorjevs and Jorge Varon, 8-6. Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker were also defeated in a long hard fought battle, 8-7(4), to Wright State's Hayden Joblin and Ricardo Pineda.
Mueck will begin play for the musketeers tomorrow at 8:00 in the morning. Mesa Mei will follow and begin play 9:00. Lastly, Jimmy Roebker will have his first appearance in singles competition tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., after receiving a bye the first day of tournament play.
