Roebker, Mei Advance In ITA Men's All-American Championship

TULSA, Okla. - Junior Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker reached the third round of the ITA All-American Championship Pre-Qualifying round on Saturday. Senior Brandon MacDonald was eliminated from the main draw after losing in the second round.
Mei battled back to win his first match after losing the first set to Roman Trkulja of Penn State and earned a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory. Rain interrupted Mei's second round match against David Haldimann from Oral Roberts, with him leading the first set 3-0. He eventually would win with a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory.
He will take on Virginia's Ryan Shane on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Roebker, who earned a bye in the opening round, knocked off Christopher Lang of Middle Tennessee to advance to Sunday's third round. He won a close opening set 7-6, before beating Lang, 6-3, in the decisive state.
He will face Amerigo Contini of Virginia Tech on Sunday in the third round at 1:30 p.m.
MacDonald, who had bye in the opening round, lost to Florida State's Dominic Cotrone, 6-0, 6-2. It was only the second loss of the fall season for the senior. He takes on Trkulja at 9 a.m.
