CINCINNATI-- The No. 2 seeded Xavier men's tennis team advanced to its sixth straight Atlantic 10 tournament final with a 4-0 win over No. 6 Richmond Saturday at the Queen City Racquet Club. The duo of Miachel Moe and Philip Diaz's 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles clinched the first point of the match for Xavier.
"Our guys again played a solid match and are really excited to be back in the final," said XU head coach Eric Toth. "We work so hard as a team all year to get to point where you get to play for a title and tomorrow our guys will make the most of this opportunity. We play a GW team who we have had a lot of great matches with in the past and I would expect tomorrow to be no different."
In singles action sophomore Jimmy Roebker topped Ethan Dunbar 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 slot. Junior Brandon MacDonald earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 over Aaron Wicker and Marc Pretorius' 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 over Dylan Trent sealed the win for the Musketeers.
