BRONX, N.Y. - The Xavier men's tennis team, playing for the second time in less than 24 hours, recorded a 7-0 victory over Fordham as the team has only one match remaining in its regular season.
The Musketeers (17-4, 7-0 Atlantic 10) earned their 10th sweep of the season and face St. Bonaventure next Saturday to conclude their schedule ahead of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
"Today was a very solid performance from our guys," head coach Eric Toth said. "I really felt yesterday's match against Marist gave us an opportunity to get acclimated more to outdoor play and that challenge really helped us today. We hope to finish our regular season and conference season strong at St. Bonaventure next weekend."
Each singles player collected straight victories including Michael Moe who returned to the lineup. Freshmen Zach Mueck and Adam Krull and senior Brandon MacDonald each recorded their team-leading 17th dual victories of the season.
Xavier is now 96-30 in singles matches this spring and has over an 80.0 percent winning percentages at the three, four and five singles positions.
The Musketeers also won the doubles point but had to fend off a tenacious Rams team that pushed them in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Xavier was able to take the victory for the 19th time this season.
Xavier's match against the Bonnies is scheduled in Olean, N.Y. at 4 p.m.
