CINCINNATI -- The Xavier men's tennis team earned another victory Sunday as the Musketeers topped Duquesne 4-3 in Atlantic 10 action. With the win, Xavier improved to 11-8 overall and 3-0 in Atlantic 10 play.
"Another really good effort and result for our guys," said head coach Eric Toth. "We are starting to play really well at the right time of the year. We have two more huge conference matches this upcoming week where we will need the same focus that we showed this weekend. Our guys we'll be ready for Dayton on Wednesday."
The doubles point proved to be the deciding factor as the sophomore duo of Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker combined for an 8-6 win at No. 1. The tandem of seniors Richard Canelas and Marc Pretorius sealed the doubles point with an 8-3 win at No. 2.
Roebker, Brandon MacDonald, and Pretorius each posted singles wins to capture the Musketeer victory.
XU hosts conference rival Dayton Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Lunken Playfield Courts.
