Men's Tennis Clinches Fifth Straight Win
Feb. 21, 2014
CINCINNATI, OH - The men's tennis team captured its fifth straight win defeating Western Michigan in a tough battle, 4-3.
In singles competition, senior Mesa Mei (6-6) and sophomores, Zach Mueck (7-4), Adam Krull (6-6), and Matt Bishop (2-4) each won their matches this afternoon despite having their hands full with great competition.
In doubles competition, the Musketeers dropped points, however, singles play brought home the victory over Western Michigan.
"Another outstanding day for our men. Even after dropping the doubles point I felt we would be okay heading into singles. Head Coach Eric Toth stated. "We were playing well, our guys were really competing, and I felt we had the right match ups to make a run at them. I am really happy for the guys for earning today's win. Western Michigan never makes it easy. They are a very proud program with a lot of good history on their side. They are very well coached and their guys are great competitors. I don't think we out-competed them or anything, we just probably won more of the crucial points that went our way when sets and matches got to the end. I know we are all really looking forward to playing Michigan St tomorrow. If we can continue to compete and execute like we have been of late I feel things will be really competitive. It will certainly be another great challenge for our squad."
The Musketeers will look to continue their hot spell as they match-up against Michigan State Feb. 22nd.
