BLOOMINGTON, IN. - The Xavier men's tennis team came up short, early Feb. 7th, as they faced Indiana in the first match of their double header exclusive, losing 6-1.

No Musketeers were able to obtain wins against Indiana in singles competition however in doubles the musketeers earned big wins. Zach Mueck and Matt Bishop as well as Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei were the only two duos to record victories. "I'm pleased with the effort this morning." Head Coach Eric Toth stated. "Obviously, the doubles was a real positive and got us the lead early on. Even in singles, we started well on enough courts to keep us well in position to make a serious run at them today. Credit Indiana for being better overall in the more crucial stages of singles. Central Florida will present another strong test later tonight. If the effort is what it was this morning and we can finish off some sets a little better this evening, we will be in position for a real quality win. It looks to be a very good matchup."

In the second match of the day the Musketeers fell again with a score of 6-1 to Central Florida. Although the Musketeers put up a relentless showing in singles matches, forcing three tiebreakers, Xavier couldn't get going.

Mesa Mei was the only player to receive a victory defeating Matthew Gladstone 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets. With that victory Mei moves to 4-3 on the season.

"Even though we came out on the short end in two matches today, I really felt we learned a lot and played our best tennis of the season to date today." Toth began. "I felt we played an even more complete match this evening against Central Florida. They were just simply better on more courts than us tonight. Of course, our efforts today will mean nothing if we do not come out tomorrow against IUPUI and play with the same commitment that we did today. IUPUI will provide a very strong challenge and we will need to compete our best to earn a win."
