Xavier Men Post 7-0 Win Over Toldeo

CINCINNATI – The Xavier men’s tennis team posted its first win of 2010 with a convincing 7-0 win over Toledo Sunday afternoon. Senior JT Torbeck posted a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles and teamed with Marc Pretorius for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Musketeers swept the Rockets in all singles matches and two of three doubles contests. Chris Herrlinger defeated Nutthavit Likitkumch 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match. Richard Canelas earned a tough 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win over Sven Burus in the No. 2 match.
In the third singles match Patrick Bandy defeated Leo Sarria 6-2, 6-7, 10-8. Freshman Brandon MacDonald improved to 10-7 on the year with a victory at No. 5 singles, and Brian Starr posted a 6-3, 6-1 win in the sixth singles match.
With the win, the Musketeers improved to 1-2 on the season. XU will travel to Cleveland State for its next match on January 30. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
