Senior Brandon MacDonald and juniors Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei will represent the Xavier men's tennis team at the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's All-American Championship that begins this weekend in Tulsa, Okla.
It could be a big year for the Xavier men's and women's tennis teams. Jimmy Roebker and Andrea Wolf has spent the summer preparing for their junior years.
Xavier would like to thank the All For One members, for the continued support of the 18 programs and over 250 student-athletes.
Five Xavier tennis players earned conference awards. Jimmy Roebker, Mesa Mei, and Katie Pleiman were named to the first team. Brandon MacDonald and Daniella Patton earned second team honors. MacDonald and Pleiman were named to the academic team.
Xavier lost in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship final match to George Washington, 4-3.
As a Sophomore (2011-12): An impressive second year for Roebker who was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team and won two league player of the week honors ... led Xavier with 29 singles victories and amassed a 24-9 record in doubles matches ... Had only 11 losses in singles matches and closed out the year with 11-straight wins ... 23 of his singles victories came in straight sets ... Won the 2011 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Singles Championship ... 18-5 record when playing from the No. 1 singles spot ... had a 6-0 conference record and swept his singles matches at the A-10 Tournament ... Played doubles primarily with classmate Mesa Mei and the two recorded a 20-7 record, including a 15-6 mark as the top doubles pair ... Closed out the year with seven-straight wins including two at the A-10 Tournament ... Won the consolation doubles flight at the Louisville Invitational with Mei.
As a Freshman (2010-2011): Had a very successful rookie season as a Musketeer Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection Two straight A-10 Rookie of the Week awards Posted a 19-16 overall singles record including a 12-9 record during the 2011 dual match season Played all singles matches in the No. 2 slot Went 22-13 overall in doubles action including a 17-6 mark in dual match competition Went 14-5 in dual match doubles with Bobby Deye.
