RECAPPING THE LAST OUTING - AT BUTLER (NOV. 8)
The Xavier men's soccer team had its six-game winning streak snapped after dropping a 2-1 decision at Butler on Friday night.
The Musketeers scored first in the 34th minute off a header from senior Matt Walker and went to half ahead by one score.
Butler scored the tying goal in the 49th minute when Vincent Mitchell took a double-assist from Zach Steinberger and Jeff Adkins and scored from five yards away. BU's second goal, which proved to be the game-winner, came in the 65th minute when Brandon Fricke took a free kick from Adkins and scored.
Butler goalkeeper Jon Dawson picked up his ninth win of the season, while Xavier goalkeeper Eric Osswald took the loss and registered three saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
On the year, the Blue and White have netted 25 goals, allowing 18 scores with a 1.00 goals-against average. XU has been led offensively this season with nine goals from senior Matt Walker and five from redshirt junior Will Walker. Matt Walker also leads the team with seven assists on the year. Between the pipes, junior Eric Osswald has racked up 63 saves and six shutouts in 17 games.
