Nov. 4, 2013
CINCINNATI – Xavier University goalkeeper Eric Osswald (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty/USF) was named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for his performance in XU’s 1-0 win at Villanova last week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon (Nov. 4).
With the win at Nova, the Musketeers improved to 10-5-2 overall (6-2-0 BIG EAST) and secured their fourth consecutive 10+ win season. The win also kept the Blue and White in the chase for the league title as well as a first round bye as one of the top two finishers.
Osswald picked up his 10th win and sixth shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory, while registering seven saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.
The transfer from USF now ranks second in the league in goals against average (0.74) and save percentage (.833) and fourth in total saves (60) and shutouts (6).
The Musketeers will wrap up the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 (7 p.m.) when they head to Indianapolis to take on the Bulldogs of Butler.
