CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer goalkeeper Justin Marshall was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week after leading the Musketeers to two shutout victories last week.
The honor marks the second time in his career that he has earned TopDrawerSoccer.com and the fourth of his collegiate career.
Marshall picked up his two shutout wins against IPFW and Missouri State. In total he made 10 saves including a season-high eight spots against Missouri State in 1-0 battle. Many of the shots he turned away in that game were dangerous strikes from the Bears. He turned away two shots against IPFW.
He lowered his goals against average to 0.72 on the year. Marshall has the most all-time wins (26), shutouts (17), and goals against average (1.05) in program history.
His other previous TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week came after Marshall helped Xavier capture its first Atlantic 10 Championship. He made 21 saves in the Musketeers' three matches and also earned the National Player of the Week from College Soccer News.
Xavier is off to its best start (6-0-2) and is ranked as high as No. 16 by SoccerTimes. The Musketeers are No. 23 in the NSCAA poll. The eight-match unbeaten streak is tied for the longest in program history.
