CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer forward Luke Spencer has been selected the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week by College Sports Madness following his two-goal and assist performance last week.
Spencer scored both of his goals and later added an assist in a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday. His two-goal game was the second of the season and the fourth of his career. Spencer has six goals and two assists in five games this year for the unbeaten Musketeers (4-0-1) who are ranked as high as 20th in the nation.
As of Monday the Cincinnati native was tied for the national lead in total points (14) and goals. He is tied for fourth in points per game (2.8) and goals per game (1.2).
Last week Spencer was named the conference player of the week and earned spots on the Soccer America and College Soccer News national teams of the week.
Spencer ranks 10th all-time in program history for goals (21), ninth all-time in total points (57), and is tied for seventh in assists (15).
Xavier returns to the road to take on Virginia, one of the most storied programs in the nation. The Musketeers face the Cavaliers beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday from Klöckner Stadium.
