CINCINNATI - On Saturday, Sept. 7 the Xavier men's soccer team along with other Xavier athletic programs will participate in the Greater Down Syndrome Association of Cincinnati’s 12th Annual Buddy Walk.
The event will take place at Sawyer Point on the waterfront and has over 5,100 participants, making it among the largest of its kind in the United States. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk will start at 10 a.m.
Last year the men's and women's soccer teams, baseball and men’s basketball teams joined the walk and were part of Devin's Team, named after men's soccer head coach Andy Fleming's daughter who was born with the disease two years ago.
Those teams, along with other Xavier staff, will participate in this year's walk. For more information about the Buddy Walk, or if you wish to donate to Devin's Team or the Greater Down Syndrome Association of Cincinnati, you can visit Buddy Walk Cincy and click on Devin's Team. Devin’s Team is currently ranked fourth in team earnings, having raised over $14,500. The event has already raised over $320,000 so far this year.
