Men's Soccer Set to Open Regular Season at Marshall

CINCINNATI - The 2010 edition of the Xavier men's soccer team is set to open its regular season Wednesday night at Marshall. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Thundering Herd's Sam Hood Field.

The Musketeers recently completed the exhibition portion of their schedule, tallying a 2-1 mark in preseason action including a 2-1 win over then-20th ranked Indiana. XU also picked up a 1-0 win over No. 13 Ohio Wesleyan (DIII) at home and fell, 3-2, to visiting Oakland.

The Herd picked up two wins during its exhibition season. Marshall opened the preseason with a 2-1 win over Gardner-Webb and added a 1-0 win over Charleston (W. Va.) as well.

These two squads met last season in Cincinnati as the Musketeers recorded a 2-0 shutout of the Herd on Sept. 26, 2009.

Groups above 20 fans can obtain a $2 group rate by calling the MU ticket office one day in advance at 1-800-THE HERD.
