CINCINNATI - Three underclassmen on the Xavier men's soccer team were members of the Columbus Crew Jrs. who won their second straight championship at the USL Super-20 tournament in Brandon, Florida on Sunday.

Sophomores Matt Walker and Nick Hagglund, and redshirt freshman Will Walker helped the Crew Jrs. to the U20s USL Championship by defeating the Toronto Lynx 4-1 in the title game.

Hagglund was named to the Super-20 League All-Tournament as he anchored a defense which allowed only one goal during the tournament. In addition the Xavier defender and Cincinnati native also knocked in a header in the championship game that proved to be the game winning goal.

Matt Walker also came up big for the Musketeers in the tournament as he scored four goals, including a nice finish on a through-ball for the Crew Jrs. third goal against the Lynx.

Last season Hagglund scored one goal and added one assist for Xavier, and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie and A-10 All-Tournament teams. Walker led all XU freshmen with three goals and two assists. His twin brother Will Walker joined the team in the spring and scored four goals, including both goals in the Musketeers' 2-2 tie against defending National Champion Akron.

The XU men's soccer team opens its A-10 title defense on Aug. 16, when it hosts Notre Dame in an exhibition game.
