CINCINNATI – Incoming Xavier University men’s soccer freshman Justin Jarvis has been selected to the 11-member Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in a vote by league coaches. Jarvis, a native of Heath, Texas, will join the Musketeers for the 2008 season.
“Justin is a classic center back,” said head coach Dave Schureck. “He is a tough defender, strong in the air, and is very vocal. We look for Justin to be an organizer and ball winner. He has played at a very high level in club and is used to playing for championships. We expect him to bring his mentality and character here to Xavier.”
Jarvis was a four-year starter for Rockwall High School and was selected as team captain during his final three years. He played center back for the No. 1 nationally ranked Dallas Texan 90 Red Soccer Club team, which won the Walt Disney Soccer Showcase in 2005 and 2007. The team also took home the Dallas Cup in 2006.
Jarvis and the Musketeers will kick-off the 2008 regular season on Friday, August 29 when the team squares-off against crosstown rival Cincinnati at 7 p.m. at the XU Soccer Complex.
